An exhibition will open at Tehnis Dromena Gallery, 53 Arch. Kyprianou Street, Strovolos, Nicosia, on Friday 8 November at 7.00pm.
Dilys is a Lebanese citizen living in Cyprus for the past 30 years. She has as well greek and Armenian origins. She completed high school in College Protestant Francais. She subsequently finished her University studies at the American University of Beirut where she obtained a Bachelor of Art in Fine Arts with honour. Since her childhood Dilys showed interest in the various forms of Arts such as Ballet and music. She played as a soloist with the orchestra of the Lebanese National Conservatoire of Music. She was also soprano with the University choir.
The artist is holder of a BA in Fine Art. Dilys had a solo exhibition in Cyprus few years back which was a success. She is a colorist and her exotic and vibrant colors are the focal point in her semi-abstract paintings. Her curvilinear shapes flow in space, imparting movement, grace and continuity to her works. Glyn Hughes, the Art Critic of the newspaper Cyprus weekly described her paintings as positive, brightly hued and wonderfully rythmic. She subsequently moved from Cyprus to Dubai and became a member of the Dubai International Art Center. There, she experimented with paintings, collage, etching and deep etching as well as woodcarving printing and pottery.
She participated in the annual Dubai Art festival and obtained the first prize for her painting “Meditation at Sunset”. She was awarded with a Dubai Festival Gold Coin. She participated in collective Art exhibitions as well. When she returned to Cyprus, she experimented with other media, mainly copper, pen and collage and made beautiful copper and ink panels.
