Exhibitions

An exhibition of the Greek artist Yiannis Thanou will open at Tehnis Dromena Gallery, 53 Arch. Kyprianou Street, Strovolos, Nicosia on Saturday 29 November at 7.30pm.  

This work started as an idea in the years of his studies at the School of Fine Arts in Athens, where the  "nude model" was a way of exercise in design and color.   In this exhibition he presents female figures, at times representatively but in most cases abstractively.  The goal was not to depict beautiful or ugly women. The geometric forms, eliminating the special characteristics of each one are used mainly to show the expression, emotion, eroticism ...   The woman in painting has inspired artists in all seasons. Today, in the age of image, I have presented the woman in painting with a modern look, avoiding stereotypes of our time.   All the work presented in the exhibition was prepared in Athens and it will be displayed for the first time  exclusively to the art lovers of the island of Aphrodite.
